Get your GP on board: our FREE GP training has landed

Last Eating Disorders Awareness Week, we campaigned for better eating disorder training for medical students across the nation.

We engaged 85% of UK medical schools, we developed the necessary in-depth training and made over 1,400 calls to politicians.

That was just the beginning.

We’re beyond excited that a brand new learning package has landed at Beat. This time, with GPs and primary care clinicians in mind.

In collaboration with Health Education England, NHS England and NHS Improvement, we’ve developed a two-step course that equips all UK GP surgeries with the knowledge needed to spot the signs of an eating disorder — and to make life-changing interventions.

We know their time and resources are limited, so the programme runs just over an hour. It’s taken online and it’s totally free of charge.

Here’s where you come in

Throughout EDAW, you shared your stories and campaigned at a national level. Now it’s time to make your mark at home.

Our ask is simple: that you share our comprehensive learning package with your GP. We’ve drafted a letter with all the information your surgery will need. So you can print it, pop it in the mail or drop it off in person. You can also email it to your GP surgery as an attachment. If you'd like to send our letter exactly as it is, simply add your signature and share with your local surgery. If you'd like to add more of your own experience before sending the letter, we also have an editable version for you to make your own!

If you don’t know your surgery’s contact details, you can find them here for Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Together, we’ll change lives.

Our draft is ready for you to send to your GP - simply add your signature and send to your surgery!

If you'd like to share your personal experience or make any changes to our draft, feel free to edit before sending!
