Eating Disorder Research

Eating Disorders Research

Research is key to improving our understanding of what causes eating disorders, how best to treat them and ideally how to prevent them from developing. You can help researchers continue to learn more about these complex mental illnesses by taking part in research.

We will upload details of opportunities here and promote them on our social media accounts.

Most of the studies we promote on this section of our website and via our social media are carried out independently by other organisations. If Beat is involved as part of the research team for any study, then this will be explained on the page for that study.

If you are a researcher and you would like to request our help with recruiting participants, please fill in Promote your research request form

If you are thinking of taking part in a research study, please read all the information provided and ask the researchers if you have any questions. Occasionally some people with eating disorders can find participating in research to be upsetting or even harmful/triggering. Please read our Guidance for research participants before deciding to take part in any of the studies, as your health and wellbeing should be the top priority.
