"I knew I had to do it!" Beat Big Jumper

Lisa did The Big Jump for Beat in 2019 – read about her experience below.

What motivated you to take part in The Big Jump for Beat this year?

For a long time, I have suffered from an eating disorder and wanted to raise awareness of them to help others as much as I can, because recovery IS possible! I have been supporting Beat for the past couple of years and it was the beginning of this year that I realised just how much even posting about Beat’s cause on social media can help others.

I want people to be aware that you don't have to look a certain way to have an eating disorder and that an eating disorder is a serious mental health illness.

What are you looking forward to the most about taking on The Big Jump?

I have always wanted to skydive, so when I saw that Beat does it and it's all for charity, I knew I had to do it! I think it's going to be a wonderful and emotional (in a good way) experience.

How are you finding your fundraising and how is Beat helping?

I'm enjoying it! I'm having a BBQ with family and friends this weekend, so I will have a little Beat area set up to fundraise more. Beat have helped a lot with sending me balloons, bunting, stickers and leaflets for fundraising, and always keeping in touch with me, which I really appreciate.
