Eating disorder awareness sessions for charities and organisations
Our sessions will provide you with an understanding of the major eating disorders in the UK and the impact they can have on people’s day-to-day lives.
We cover risk factors, and early warning signs and symptoms of various eating disorders, as well as our guidance and information on signposting someone to support. Attendees will gain awareness of eating disorders and how they can affect the mental health of those living with them.
We conclude with the opportunity to submit your own questions to our Trainer for advice and insight.

Learning objectives
The learning outcomes for the Eating Disorder Awareness Session include:
- To increase knowledge of eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder) and awareness of others (e.g. ARFID, OSFED)
- Understand the importance of early intervention
- Dispel misconceptions associated with eating disorders
- Have an awareness of risk factors & early warning signs
- Develop an understanding of stages of change and how this links to recovery
- Understand treatment recommendations and the recovery journey
- Know how/when to refer to a specialist Eating Disorder Service
- To develop an awareness of the services that Beat have to offer
Format
- Virtual delivery (via Zoom)
- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Attendees receive resource sheet on completion of our evaluation
