Eating Disorder Hub for Education Professionals (formerly SPOT)

Eating Disorder Hub for Education Professionals (formerly SPOT)

The Eating Disorder Hub for Education Professionals encompasses a range of interactive eLearning modules, monthly Q&A sessions and interactive webinars delivered by our expert clinicians.  The platform also enables school professionals to post questions on a community forum to share advice with their peers.

The hub aims to increase understanding of eating disorders, including how to spot the early signs in children of school age.

Research has shown that the earliest opportunity to prevent eating disorders is during primary school, with children showing concerns about physical appearance at an increasingly young age.

By accessing the hub, you will be taught how to spot the early signs of an eating disorder, talk to a pupil exhibiting them, engage their families, and support them to seek medical assessment.

Our downloadable resources will enable school and college professionals to cascade learning to students though our tools and ideas on awareness raising events, three lesson plans centered around students learning more about mental health, coping with difficult feelings and self-esteem.  You will also have access to school policies to help ensure that your school or college has an approach to eating disorders within the setting, offering guidance for all staff.

Monthly drop-in Q&A sessions run via Zoom on the last Monday of every month (please see the hub for full dates as these may change with school holidays), and are a space to receive support and guidance from an expert eating disorder clinician. If you are looking to find out more about how to navigate conversations with young people, handle day to day challenges or find out more about eating disorder treatment, these sessions are for you!

The hub is designed to enable school professionals to help pupils into treatment quickly and is currently fully funded for all primary and secondary schools, alongside sixth forms and colleges.

If you have any questions, please contact us via email and a member of the team will get back to you in 3-4 working days.

Want to do your bit for Beat? Alongside the hub, you can also help us raise vital funds. Get your game on, host your own pub quiz or do your best downward dog with the yogis. It’s all good — and it starts on our fundraising pages.
