Twogether Fundraiser Stories

We believe no one should face an eating disorder alone.

So in this spirit, we launched a new fundraising challenge for this year's Eating Disorders Awareness Week where we asked supporters to pair up with a pal and fundraise with someone by their side. Because nothing beats tackling it Twogether.

Our fantastic fundraisers are doing everything this week from horse riding to crotchet, board games to acts of kindness. Here are just a few of their stories…

A smiling selfie of Yan and Ross. They are both wearing black t shirts, with patterned aprons.

Yan and Ross

Yan and her husband Ross are braving a wild swim every morning of Eating Disorders Awareness Week! As if that wasn't enough, they'll be taking the plunge wearing handmade themed costumes (think Scooby-Doo and retro sci-fi).

“We wanted to pick something that simultaneously celebrated nature and life but empowered us in a light-hearted way...I hope with my contribution to aid in debunking stereotypes and providing support and awareness for EVERYONE who suffers and those who support them”

Hannah and Jack

Hannah and boyfriend Jack will be walking an epic half marathon across London, from Albert Bridge to Tower Bridge!

“Beat are an incredibly important charity to me and really helped both me and those I love through my eating disorder diagnoses...I will not allow myself to re-enter that dark place again in the same way, and a massive part of that is the beautiful people that surround me - which is why I adore that this year’s EDAW theme is Twogether"

A black and white selfie of Hannah and Jack. They are both grinning from ear to ear, and Hannah's arm is thrown around Jack's shoulder.
A picture showing Lucy and Alice standing on grass, posing for the photo with their arms outstretched, smiling. They are wearing Beat t-shirts, one purple and one red.

Lucy and Alice

Lucy and Alice from Cornwall's Adult Eating Disorder Service are pairing up and taking on the once in a lifetime challenge of a tandem skydive!

“Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2023 is all about pairing up Twogether as nobody should have to battle an eating disorder alone”

Liv

Liv has arranged for friends and family around the world to hand over the baton to one another in an incredible, continuous 24 hour run over the weekend of EDAW!

“Recovery is a long process, and without the help of this charity and all they offer, I wouldn't be here today…We are all doing this Twogether - all eating disorders thrive on isolation and we are doing this joint run to show YOU ARE NOT ALONE”
