The European Eating Disorders Review (EEDR) is a leading peer-reviewed academic journal on eating disorders, led by Wiley and Beat. The journal plays a vital role in publishing and promoting high-quality research, as well as helping us increase our knowledge of eating disorders and how to treat them.
Beat's Deputy CEO, Tom Quinn, says: "We’re pleased to announce Eric and Nadia as co-editors in chief of our journal, the European Eating Disorders Review.
"Eating disorders research has been underfunded for far too long, and the journal plays an important role in sharing findings and supporting researchers.
"We look forward to working with Eric and Nadia, and to continued work with Wiley to better develop our understanding of how we can support people affected by eating disorders and their loved ones, and to stop others from being affected in the future."
Eric Van Furth is Professor Emeritus of Eating Disorders in the Department of Psychiatry at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), Clinical Psychologist at GGZ Rivierduinen, and a member of the supervisory boards of Emergis GGZ and Genderness. He is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist specialized in family therapy, having worked with patients with eating disorders for more than 40 years.
He says: “I am honored to take on this role alongside Professor Micali. The European Eating Disorder Review has long been a vital platform for connecting rigorous research with clinical practice, and I look forward to working with our editorial team, reviewers, and authors to further strengthen the journal’s impact on the field.”
Nadia Micali is Head of Research and founder of the Center for Eating and Feeding Disorders Research (CEDaR) at the Specialist Center for Eating Disorders for the Capital Region, and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and Great Ormond Institute of Child Health, UCL, UK.
Prof Micali is a child and adolescent psychiatrist specialising in eating disorders. Over the course of her career, she's made significant contributions to the field of eating disorder research, as well as educating new researchers and clinicians.
She says: “I am delighted to take on this role with Prof. Van Furth, continuing my contribution to the ERV. I am eager (together with the editorial board, the publisher and Beat) to support the journal and enable its continued growth and pivotal role in ensuring publication and dissemination of high quality research in the field of eating disorders that has impact on individuals suffering from eating disorders and their families.”
