Become a Media Volunteer

The media is very interested in stories about eating disorders and Beat is contacted daily with requests for interviews, comments and case studies.

The personal message is the most powerful one.  Every interview on radio, TV or in print media is an opportunity to add to understanding and reach someone affected by our message of hope – eating disorders will be beaten.

We particularly need individuals prepared to share their stories from the following backgrounds:

  • Males
  • ‘Older onset’ – those who’ve developed an eating disorder later than the average, i.e. age 30+
  • Binge eating
  • Emotional overeating

The Communications Team is here to support Media Volunteers and can offer individual advice on working with the media and talk through any issues ahead of an interview.  Volunteers always have the opportunity to refuse an interview should they feel it is not right for them.

Please note: due to a high number of recent applicants, we are not currently recruiting media volunteers. If you are interested in being a media volunteer, please email media@beateatingdisorders.org.uk.
