Environmental sensitivity in the development and recovery of Anorexia Nervosa

Why is this research happening?

Sensitivity is a personality trait that shapes how strongly someone experiences their environment and emotions. This study wants to understand how sensitivity relates to the development of, and recovery from, anorexia nervosa, from the perspective of people who've lived it.

Who is doing the research?

Geoffrey Mawdsley is a trainee clinical psychologist at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Supervised by Dr Lucia Giombini and Professor Michael Pluess.

Who can take part?

Adults (18+) with a current or past diagnosis of anorexia nervosa who also score highly on a brief sensitivity questionnaire at screening, and who don't have a formal diagnosis of autism or ADHD.

How can I take part and what does this involve?

You will complete a short online screening questionnaire. If eligible, you'll be invited to a single interview (60–90 minutes) via Microsoft Teams.

You'll receive a £10 Amazon voucher for completing the interview, plus entry into a £50 prize draw just for completing screening.
