Healthcare professionals; GPs, nurses, dentists, dieticians, midwives, emergency staff, therapists.
Healthcare professionals from a variety of care settings are able to spot the signs and symptoms of eating disorders, make a referral and provide appropriate support.
Our training session for those working in healthcare settings raises awareness about eating disorders, ensuring that professionals in a variety of roles understand the signs of an eating disorder and the impact it may have on a person’s general health and life.
Accident and emergency staff, school nurses, dental surgery staff and GP practice nurses are just some of the professionals who are in a position to see beyond the initial presenting symptoms, spot an underlying eating disorder, take the appropriate action and provide effective support. This in turn will raise the number of referrals by healthcare colleagues at an earlier stage of the illness, therefore improving outcomes. All our training is delivered by qualified clinicians who have extensive experience working in eating disorder services.
I found the training to be invaluable and it will help me in my work on a young person’s psychiatric intensive care unit.Healthcare professional
I am a GP and have a daughter with an eating disorder. It was very reassuring to hear about services available for both her and family. I think I gained more insight into the thought process of an anorexia sufferer from the testimonial of the Ambassador.Healthcare professional
