Anorexia Nervosa

A day in the life of us,
No reprieve nor relief, just fuss.
Organising our time around food,
Radical changes in our mood.
ECGs, blood tests, being weighed in a gown,
X-rays, therapy, being told not to frown.
Idolising those without such an affliction,
A mindset of unrelenting contradiction.

Never-ending efforts to regain control,
Each day aspiring to reach our final goal.
Reaching out for all the help we can get,
Vulnerable people under serious threat.
Objectionable habits, often out of hand.
Self-sabotage daily for a smaller waistband.
Anorexia Nervosa – do you understand?
