We know that you may have spent the last few months training hard for your race day. However, with the Coronavirus most events have now been cancelled or postponed. We feel just as frustrated about this as you. But the good news is that we can make the most of this situation and there is a plan B: Virtual running!
Even if you hadn’t planned to run in an event, you can still set up your own virtual run! It’s simple, easy, and free!
No, this doesn’t mean that you run on a video game or watch a video of someone running! Virtual running simply means you can go out and run in your local area or on a treadmill for the distance of your choice. You can run the distance over one day or set a target of completing the distance over a month.
Set yourself a fundraising goal and share your fundraising page for your friends and family to sponsor you. Remember, it’s important to stay positive right now, and others will love to hear about the things that you are doing to help Beat provide vital support services for those in need.
Although you will run by yourself, you can encourage your friends and colleagues to join you in running virtually too and set a group fundraising target to work towards. Virtual sport events build a digital community around participation and fundraising, which can unite people from all around the world.
Benefits of virtual running:
Do some good and raise money to ensure Beat’s Helpline services remain open for those in desperate need.
Set up your JustGiving page and let everyone know when, where and how far you’ll be running. Remember to personalise your page and let everyone know why you want to run for Beat.
Set up an account with a tracking app and share updates of your training on your JustGiving page to let people know how you're getting on. Don’t forget to post these updates to your Facebook page.
Our fundraising team is here to support you. Let us know about your fundraising efforts by completing our simple registration form.
Once you’ve completed your virtual run, share your route map from your tracking app and some photos of the run to let everyone know how you did.
If you would like any help writing your story on your JustGiving page, please do get in contact at email@example.com.
Please read our fundraising guidelines before choosing to take part in a virtual run. Your health and wellbeing is our priority above any fundraising event. If an exercise activity is not the right event for you, please take a look at our virtual quiz, craft and yoga ideas.
