Virtual Runs

We know that you may have spent the last few months training hard for your race day. However, with the Coronavirus most events have now been cancelled or postponed. We feel just as frustrated about this as you. But the good news is that we can make the most of this situation and there is a plan B: Virtual running!

Even if you hadn’t planned to run in an event, you can still set up your own virtual run! It’s simple, easy, and free!

What is a virtual run?

No, this doesn’t mean that you run on a video game or watch a video of someone running! Virtual running simply means you can go out and run in your local area or on a treadmill for the distance of your choice. You can run the distance over one day or set a target of completing the distance over a month.

Set yourself a fundraising goal and share your fundraising page for your friends and family to sponsor you. Remember, it’s important to stay positive right now, and others will love to hear about the things that you are doing to help Beat provide vital support services for those in need.

Although you will run by yourself, you can encourage your friends and colleagues to join you in running virtually too and set a group fundraising target to work towards. Virtual sport events build a digital community around participation and fundraising, which can unite people from all around the world.

Benefits of virtual running:

  • It’s a great way to stay motivated.
  • Run anywhere and anytime – fits in with your lifestyle, around your commitments and is more accessible.
  • You can run alone but you will also be joining a community of thousands of others running virtually.
  • Total flexibility – you choose the distance you want to run and the amount of time you would like to run it in.
  • Use a running app some are free to join, and easy to share your run and results online.

Do some good and raise money to ensure Beat’s Helpline services remain open for those in desperate need.
