As part of the Warrington based Helpline Team, you will be responsible for delivering quality advice and support to service users across the UK. Working through various channels such as telephone, message boards and online support groups, you will be offering a safe, non-judgmental space for people to feel encouraged and empowered with a focus on early intervention and recovery.
Supporting people of all ages, you will be part of a passionate and innovative team of staff and volunteers working towards preventing and ending the distress, pain and suffering caused by eating disorders.
Volunteers must have competent IT skills, a willingness to learn and the ability to support others with empathy, kindness and compassion. In return, we will provide you with a comprehensive programme of training and support with opportunities for personal and professional development.
Successful appointment to the role will be dependent on full attendance at Beat’s initial training programme, satisfactory references and DBS checking procedures.
Please note: We welcome applications from people with experience of eating disorders either through a personal experience, as a parent/carer or professionally. If you have personal experience of eating disorders, we ask you to meet our recovery criteria in order to safeguard your own wellbeing. We ask that you are recovered, have not displayed any symptoms of eating distress, nor received any treatment, therapy or counselling for eating issues for a minimum period of two years.
