The impact of being part of a moderated online recovery community or support group on recovery from anorexia nervosa

Name of author: Gemma Vernon

Affiliation: University of Greenwich

Email address: gv3011u@gre.ac.uk

Who can take part?

Anyone who is 18 years or over and feels they have Anorexia Nervosa. You do not need a formal diagnosis. The questionnaire is about online support groups but you do not have to have taken part in one to take part in the questionnaire. If you are currently very vulnerable we advise that you don't take part.

What is the purpose of the research?

The purpose of the research is to find out if there is an effect of online recovery community participation or not on feelings of recovery from Anorexia Nervosa.

What does the study involve?

The study involves filling out a questionnaire about your participation, or not, in online recovery groups and your feelings of recovery. It will take less than 10 minutes to complete. There will be no numbers, specific eating disorder behaviours or triggers mentioned. All answers will be completely anonymous. You can end the questionnaire at any time if needed and will create a unique code that can be used to withdraw your data from the study if you choose to.
