Affiliation: King's College London

Email address: jessica.wilkins@kcl.ac.uk.

Who can take part?

To take part in this study, you must:

  • Be a friend, family member or partner to someone who has a current or past experience of any eating disorder although a formal diagnosis or experience of formal eating disorder treatment is not required.
  • Be aged 16 years or older.
  • Be willing to take part in a semi-structured interview.

What is the purpose of the research?

The purpose of the project is to understand how people seek help for an eating disorder. We are interested your perspective on what helps people to seek help and also what makes it difficult, as someone who supports a person with an eating disorder. We are particularly interested in the experiences of people from under-served groups in eating disorder treatment (e.g. people who identify as being part of minoritised ethnic backgrounds, sexual and gender minority groups, and men).

What does the study involve?

If you choose to take part in the project you will be asked to take part in an interview and complete a short questionnaire. Participation will take place either in person at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, or online, whichever suits you best.
