About the Role
Ambassadors are part of Beat’s national network of inspiring volunteers who have experienced and recovered from an eating disorder or supported a loved one through recovery. Ambassadors take part in a range of exciting and rewarding activities, sharing their experiences to inspire others and help more people get the support and understanding they need!
For Ambassadors over 25
- You must be over 25
- You need to have been out of inpatient treatment for at least one year
For Carer Ambassadors
- You must have cared for a loved one who is currently in recovery/recovered
If your application form is successful and your references are satisfactory, you will then be invited to attend the training day on one of the days stated above. You will be provided with training, support and guidance on raising awareness, sharing your story with the media, campaigning and fundraising.
This is a flexible voluntary role and you will be supported to take part in and lead activities in your own time. You will also be asked to take part in opportunities organised by Beat. You can choose how involved you get with Beat, whether you just want to do something once a month or once a week - it's entirely up to you!
The role starts once training has been completed.
You will need to be able to provide us with the name and contact details of two people who can act as your referees, following these criteria:
- Must have known you for at least one year and cannot be relatives or partners.
- One referee must know you in a professional capacity, such as employer or tutor.
